Hiking tour to Baikal Lake through the Barguzin Mountains.

We invite you to take a fascinating hiking adventure through the Barguzin ridge to Lake Baikal. You will hike through a dense forest along a well-equipped trail of the Zabaikalsky National Park. Trekking at Lake Baikal

This area is renowned for its beauty and diverse wildlife, and the hike will give you an excellent opportunity to experience Baikal’s nature. You will see spectacular mountain rivers and will cross a mountain pass during the trip. The summit will give you a wonderful panoramic view of Baikal and the Barguzin valley. You will spend a few days on the shore of the Chivyrkuisky Bay and take a boat excursion to the Ushkany Islands. You will also climb the plateau of the Sacred Nose peninsula.

1st Day. Meeting at the airport and transfer to hotel for accommodation. Guided city tour with an afternoon excursion to the Ivolginsky Datsan, the most important Buddhist temple in Russia. (40 km from Ulan Ude). After lunch visit to the Buryat Nature museum where you will see the unique collection of flora and fauna of Buryatia. Dinner.

2nd Day. Transfer from Ulan Ude to the Barguzin village (310 km), the starting point of the route. Lunch en route. Overnight in tents with sleeping bags. Cooking on camp fire.

3rd Day. After breakfast we start our hiking along the river “Gremyachay” to the place “Taiga Giant” located on the territory of the Zabaikalsky National Park. After lunch we cross the Barguzinsky pass with maximum height of 1745 m. At the summit we will have a great panoramic view Lake Baikal. Dinner and overnight in tents.

4th Day. After breakfast we start our hiking along the river “Gremyachay” to the place “Taiga Giant” located on the territory of the Zabaikalsky National Park. After lunch we cross the Barguzinsky pass with maximum height of 1745 m. At the summit we will have a great panoramic view Lake Baikal. Dinner and overnight in tents.

5th Day. All day hiking along the river “Bolshoi Chivyrkui” until we reach the winter hunting hut located on the territory of the Zabaikalsky National Park. Overnight in picturesque place in tents or in winter hut.

6th Day. Three hours more hiking and we are in a wonderful place called Krokhalinay Bay where we board motorboat to Zmeinaya Bay (Zabaikalsky National Park). Opportunity to try mineral baths. Zmeinaya Bay is famous by its sand beaches and the warmest water of the Lake. Overnight in tents. Cooking on camp fire.

7th Day. At leisure in Zmeinaya Bay with opportunities to try the mineral baths, to swim in Lake Baikal or to fishing.

8th Day. After breakfast a motorboat excursion to the Ushkani Islands, the home of the Nerpa seals (8-10 hrs). Lunch en route. On the way back to the Zmeinaya Bay we will observe rock islands of the Chivyrkuisky Bay.

9th Day. After breakfast hiking along the trail to the place called “Mohakhovo Cape” (about 20 km). Departure by car to the Barguzin Bay where we will make a base camp for the next few days. Overnight in tents. Cooking on camp fire.

10th Day. After breakfast climb the plateau of the Sacred Nose Peninsula. At the summit you will have a great opportunity for video-photo shooting of the panoramic views of Baikal. Evening return to the base camp for dinner and overnight.

11th Day. Leisure and please on the territory of the isthmus. Swimming in Lake Baikal, fishing, and sunbath taking.

12th Day. After breakfast, departure for Ulan Ude (260 km). Lunch en route. Accommodation and lunch at the Hotel. Free time to get acquainted with the capital of Buryat Republic. Dinner in the local restaurant.

13th Day. After breakfast visit the Ethnographic Museum and see collections of traditional dwellings, clothes and furnishings of ethnic groups of the region. Visit to the Old Believers' village (a Russian religious group that split off from the Russian Orthodox Church in the seventeenth century) and introduction to the original folklore and cuisine of the 'semeisky' ethnic group. Final dinner at Old Believers` family. Return to Ulan-Ude and overnight at the hotel.
